MVacay's running list of new and expanding restaurants + businesses, changes in ownership/renovations
Spring on Martha’s Vineyard always feels full of possibility. There’s so much hope, excitement, and celebration around the new additions taking shape across the Island. If you’re trying to keep up with the big changes coming in 2026, this guide pulls everything together in one place.
This is what I’ve gathered so far, and I’ll keep updating the web version as more additions roll in throughout the season.

🍽️ New Businesses
🍴New Restaurants or Food Offerings
Highlands Market (OB) – New café-marketplace now open in the former Linda Jean’s space, with breakfast and lunch offerings from the team behind Nancy’s and Nomans.
Toccopuro (VH) – Mocha Mott’s property sold to the Toccopuro group; a new restaurant or café concept is expected to replace the Vineyard Haven location. Mocha Mott’s remains open in Oak Bluffs.
The Wave Restaurant + Bar (VH) – New restaurant replacing Garde East at Vineyard Haven Marina for the 2026 season.
🛍️ New Shops
Biscuit by the Sea (Edg) – Home décor shop opening a new location at 41 Main Street.
Sweetish Fish (Edg) – Candy shop expected to open a new Edgartown location, on 1 S Water Street.
Bee Blunt (VH) – Clothing and lifestyle shop expanding after several years of pop-ups in Oak Bluffs, located in the former Old Stone Bank Conrado space.
Kismet Outfitters – Planning a second location expansion, TBD.
Lexie’s Rack – Vintage clothing and curated finds shop launching soon
💆 Wellness Services and Experiences
Harbor & Hive – Organic yard care service offering tick, mosquito, and deer deterrent treatments.
Luminous Mind Hypnotherapy – New hypnotherapy offering focused on habits, anxiety, and personal development.
The Remembrance Studio – Grief coaching and memorial planning service offering custom tributes, gatherings, and memory-focused experiences.
The Collected Table MV – Event styling service offering curated tablescapes for intimate gatherings and celebrations.
The Stitchery MV (VH) - Studio offering small group needlework classes and private hand-sewing lessons from an experienced teacher
🔄 Expansions, Ownership Changes + Movement
🤝 New Owners or Management
The Loft – Ownership change (details still emerging).
Plane View Restaurant (MV Airport) – Reopened under new ownership
Vineyard Grill (VH) – Formerly MV Tap, now under new ownership with a revised restaurant concept at Five Corners.
ESH (OB) – Newly opened in the former Dos Mas space on Circuit Ave following a renovation and updated concept.
MV Family Campground (VH) – Acquired by national resort operator Northgate Resorts, marking a major ownership change after decades of family ownership; no immediate changes are planned for the 2026 season.
Future General Store planned for the Sole building in Edgartown, expected in 2027
Offshore Ale (OB) potentially will expand into Notalot Farm Stand space in 2027.
📦 Moving
Frankie’s Revival (VH → OB) – Now open on Circuit Ave with thrift and vintage finds.
MV Chowder Company (OB) – Closed its previous location and planning a move to a new 14 Ave Kennebec Ave space. Opening timeline TBD.
Benito’s Hairstyling (OB → Edg) – Relocated to Gypsy Barbershop in Edgartown.
Conrado (VH) - Has condensed to one space (the Old Stone Bank property that sold gifts will merge into 2 Union Street)
🏗️ Other Island Changes
🛠️ Renovations + Evolving Infrastructure
Vineyard Haven Library – Closed for full renovation, operating out of temporary space at 15 Church Street.
MV Airport Terminal Project – Moving forward with federal funding; construction continues into 2026.
SSA Woods Hole Terminal – Reconstruction ongoing, expected completion around Memorial Day 2026.
Gay Head Cliffs Stairway (Aquinnah) – Reconstruction underway to improve ADA accessibility and access to shops; expected completion this spring.
Vineyard Wind – Offshore construction officially completed, marking a major milestone for the 62-turbine project.
Philips Hardware Site (OB) – Demolition underway ahead of redevelopment into a mixed-use building with housing and retail.
YMCA (MV) – Operating out of the Ice Arena during ongoing construction.
Harbor Homes – Secured a permanent Vineyard Haven location at 515 Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, expanding its year-round shelter presence.
Ocean View Hotel (OB) – Project approved by MVC; development plans continue to evolve.
Island Theatre (OB) – Oak Bluffs voters approved funding to pursue acquisition of the long-vacant theater property as the town explores future plans for the site.
Union Chapel (OB) - Renovation currently underway for improved accessibility circulation.
Meshacket Commons (Edg) – New affordable year-round housing development in active rollout on Meshacket Road; rental and ownership applications have closed as the 40-home project moves toward its 2026 opening.
Oak Bluffs Bandstand - currently undergoing ongoing maintenance




📅 New Events + Venues
First Ferry Party (OB) – New annual kickoff event planned for May 14, 2026 to celebrate the start of the season.
InkWellness Fest – New wellness-focused festival concept with a community event planned near Inkwell Beach August 5, 2026.
Oak Bluffs Tennis Club – Revival efforts underway to bring back the historic club with its first Labor Day tennis tournament and June clinic as a partnership with East Chop Tennis Club.
🎨 New Groups + Media
Theatre on the Blue – New nonprofit focused on accessible theater programming.
Tick Free MV – New nonprofit launched to address tick-borne illness through deer population reduction efforts, research, and public education.
The Vineyard Bridge – Brazilian-owned business accelerator and consulting platform.
NOEPE Studio – Production studio offering podcasting, AI content, and media services.
Midnight Land Collective – Wampanoag-led conservation organization focused on land stewardship and cultural revitalization.
Oak Bluffs Economic Development Efforts – Town-led initiative addressing storefront vacancies and year-round business activity on Circuit Ave.
