Meet the Coast Guard from Station Menemsha and “Touch-a-Boat.” Kids (and their families) love this event! People of all ages are welcome. Check out a U.S. Coast Guard boat at the Oak Bluffs Public Library parking lot. Many will choose to climb aboard.
Black Dog Doggie Adoption Day at Black Dog VH, 12-4
September is Doggie Adoption Month at the Black Dog. We have partnered with local animal shelters to bring adoptable dogs to our general stores throughout the entire month of September. Plus, 20% of each store's daily sales on its event date will be donated to our partner shelters.

Part of the annual Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby. For children 4-14, no registration needed.
Vineyard Haven Library 5K Run/Walk to the Chop and Fun Run, 9:45a / info
The traditional 5K event will be held at the library on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. A free half-mile fun run for kids will be held at 9:45 am. The USATF sanctioned 5K course for this race begins next to the library on Greenwood Avenue, turning left onto Main street and proceeding up Main street to the West Chop Lighthouse, then returning down Main street to the library. Registration for the in-person 5k is $30 and includes t-shirt.
