It’s November…are we talking Christmas? Apparently so! Holiday Markets start this weekend, and mark up your calendars with Save The Dates for all the festivities coming up. Also take note of the Thanksgiving Pre-Orders and get your orders in before deadlines.

🎖️What To Do This Weekend

Friday (11/10)

• 🎤 Trivia Night at Black Dog Cafe, 6-8p

• 🎨 Exhibit Opening Reception: Elizabeth R. Whelan at WT Public Library, 3-4:30p

  • Elizabeth R. Whelan’s botanical drawings will be on display at the West Tisbury Library for the month of November. Join her to celebrate the opening of this exhibit. 

• 🎤 TBD Improv at Grange Hall, 7p / info

  • The absurdity and comedy are to be determined...by you! A cast of Island performers vies for your laughter by using their wits, and suggestions from the audience, in on-the-spot improvisational theater. Guided by Sean Roach, a seasoned entertainer with years of expertise in creating shows for people of all ages, this is improv at its best — quick, clever, and uproariously funny.

  • From Uganda, Godfrey returns with infectious energy. Performance then dance class for all.

  • A delightful evening of music and song presented by some of the Vineyard’s best performers.

Saturday (11/11)

• ☀️Veterans Day Hike at Long Point Wildlife Refuge, 9-10:30a

  • Hike will be approximately 1.5 miles over moderate to difficult terrain; limited shade and soft sand. Binoculars and cameras are encouraged. Pre-registration required. Meet at the winter entrance. Sign Up

• ☀️VCS Winter Walk: Tisbury Great Pond, 10a-12p

  • Join us this fall and winter for the always fun and informative Winter Walks series. Get outdoors, take in the Island’s scenic beauty, and learn the interesting conservation history of some of our local ecological treasures.

    Our first walk of the 2023-24 season will be a visit to the Tisbury Great Pond, beginning at the Athearn family’s beautiful flower fields. Please note, registration is required.

• 🍁West Tisbury Winter Farmers' Market at Agricultural Hall, 10a-1p

  • Enjoy the winter version of the West Tisbury Farmers' Market, held indoors at the Agricultural Hall. 

• 🎄World Market Holiday Shop at Capawock Theatre, 10a-6p (Sun too)

  • Holiday pop-up market featuring crafts from Haiti, India, Africa, Middle East and Guatemala.

• 🎖️Veterans Day Parade at Nancy’s, 10:45a

  • In Oak Bluffs at 10:45 a.m., the annual Veterans Day Parade hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9261 will start off from Nancy’s restaurant and proceed to the monument in Ocean Park.

• 🎵 East African Dance with Godfrey Muwulya at Slough Farm, 11a-12:30p

  • Ugandan dancer, educator, and musician Godfrey Muwulya returns to the Island with his high-energy workshops in East African traditional dances, drumming, and music for all ages. This program is co-sponsored by The Yard. Registration is required, please click this link to sign up!

• 🎵UUSMV Community Concert at Unitarian Universalist Society, 1:30p

  • Join us for another joyful concert with Jeremy Berlin and Delanie Pickering.

• ☀️Veterans Day Cape Pogue Discovery Tour: Afternoon, 1:30-3p / info

  • This Veterans Day, explore Cape Pogue’s magnificent barrier beach and wildlife refuge on an open-air, over-sand adventure. Binoculars and cameras are encouraged. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours. This tour does not visit the lighthouse. Participants will be picked up at the Chappaquiddick side of the Chappy ferry 15 minutes before the tour begins, and dropped off after the tour finishes. Pre-registration is required.

• 🍁Harvest Dinner at First Baptist Church Parish House, 5-6:30p

  • Join the First Baptist Church in Vineyard Haven for this fundraiser: a complete turkey dinner with all the fixin's. This is a family-friendly event. Dine in or take out. $18 adults, $10 children

Sunday (11/12)

• ☀️Veterans Day 5K at Katama Airfield, 9a

  • Annual walk/run to support Martha's Vineyard Community Services' Veterans Outreach. Event begins and ends at Katama Kitchen/Katama Airfield. No frills! No water stops, no T-shirts, no timing. $10 suggested donation 

• 🍁Parker House Rolls with Vineyard Baker at FARM Institute, 10a-12p / info

  • Just in time for all your holiday meals, learn how to make these delicious Parker House rolls from scratch in this hands-on class! Teri will walk participants through the steps of bread baking including shaping and rolling dough. All participants will make their own rolls to take home with them.

    Pre-registration required for all Farm Institute cooking classes.

• 🎵Second Sunday Jazz at West Tisbury Public Library, 2:30-3:30p

  • The public is invited to a live, in-person jazz concert at the West Tisbury Library.  This concert features the Lucas Ostinato Trio.

• 🎤 Film Screening and Fundraiser: Mending the Line at MV Film Center, 4p / info

  • In honor of Veterans Day, we are proud to present this event, with most of the the proceeds going directly to new Veterans’ housing on the island. The Feature will be preceded by two short films and followed by a Q & A.Tickets: $20. Free admission for veterans is available at the box office.
