A fun little bit of news, if you’re listening to MVYRadio on or off-island the next few months, you might hear some MVacay advertisements! We were honored to be chosen as a Business Diversity Initiative grantee for this quarter. We don’t have the funding to advertise for ourselves, so I’m really excited that listeners on the Cape and Islands might get to learn about our newsletter on our favorite radio station.   • A family-friendly performance sure to conjure the spirits of Halloween. Audiences are invited to step into a new, immersive theater and dance experience where worlds collide and legends remain uncertain.   • Hike a guided trail with the Oak Bluffs Public Library, and meet at Offshore Ale afterwards for a beverage! 

• Pumpkin Story Walk at the FARM Institute, 10:30-12

  • Join the Family Center and the FARM Institute for a fun, fall, family story walk. Walk through the gardens and see all the farm animals. Drop-ins welcome.

• Halloween in Oak Bluffs, 12-8p

  • 12-2p: Costume contest registration at Island Outfitters

  • 2p: Costume parade starting in front of the Island Theatre.

  • 1-4p:

    • Oak Bluffs merchants handing out candy

    • Pumpkin decorating at Dockside Inn from 1 to 4 on their front porch

    • Enchanted Chocolates has an Open House

  • Free movies at The Strand : E.T. (3p) at 3 and Frankenstein at (7p)

  • 7-8p - BestFest Parade Featuring The Upis Land Band

• Halloween Full Moon Wonder: Hunter's Moon at Long Point Wildlife Refuge, 4:30-6:30p

  • It’s no trick – we want to treat you to a Halloween full moon hike and bonfire at Long Point Wildlife Refuge! Experience the sunset and full moon rise as we hike around sandplain grasslands, pitch pine forest, and barrier beach. After hiking, enjoy a fire on the beach with s’mores and popcorn roasting under the moonlight. Costumes are encouraged and spooky stories will be shared around the fire! Pre-registration required. Hike is approximately one mile over soft sand and packed dirt. Tour suitable for ages 6+. Water, headlamp, and bug spray recommended. Meet at the gatehouse at the Long Point Wildlife Refuge winter entrance.

• Pumpkins and Ponies at Misty Meadows, 12-2p / info

  • Come and meet our herd, decorate your own pumpkin, join in games and activities, or enjoy the property with a cup of hot cider - all ages welcome, and parking-lot access available for those with mobility needs. Entry is free; donations of any amount towards our non-profit are much appreciated.

• Dance Party for Habitat for Humanity at The PA Club, 7-10p

  • Dance with music provided by Serendipity, a silent auction and a costume contest with the grand prize of round trip airfare from Cape Air and two nights at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge.

Sunday (10/29)

• Oak Bluffs Fall 5K Run and Walk, 9a / info

  • Starts and finishes at Washington Park (at the corner of Wayland avenue and East Chop Drive). Start time for the 5K is 9 a.m.; the fun run start time is 8:30 a.m. Costumes encouraged! 

• Edgartown's Happy Haunting, 10a-1p

  • Come into Edgartown for continued Halloween fun, while little ghosts and goblins trick-or-treat from business to business. 

• Jack-O-Lantern Carving at Chilmark Community Church, 10:15

  • At 10:15 a.m., we will carve pumpkins for upcoming Halloween. We are inviting all to participate by bringing their own pumpkins, carving designs and tools. We ask that you leave one of your creative jack-o-lantern creations behind to beautify the front of Chilmark Church and to welcome trick-or-treaters on Tuesday. Take your other creations home to light up your front porch. We will have supplies, designs and extra pumpkins if you forget.

• Fall Family Fun Day at The PA Club, 12-4p

  • Food, games, music, family and costumes welcome

• An Esoteric Evening with S+S Kitchenette, 4-7p

  • Special Guests: Tarot Readings by Island Venus, Henna by Maple Mehndi, Crystals by Hawkhouse and Spells by Spring!

• Silent Disco at Unitarian Universalist Society, 7-8:30p

  • Join PathwaysArts for its next Silent Disco! Sponsored by MV Ballroom Dancers and the Vineyard Haven Public Library in collaboration with PathwaysArts and the Unitarian Church. Free.
