Before Boarding the Black Dog Cruise

Visitors are constantly asking how they can spend more time on the water when they are visiting the island - I wish I could tell you! But, there is no one-size-fits-all experience for every visitor! I’ve rounded up a ton of great options depending on your group size and the type of experience you are looking for. Enjoy!

Tour/Fun Charters

Larger Groups (by the seat)

  1. Mad Max Sailing Adventures - catamaran tours that leave twice daily out of Edgartown Harbor, you can reserve it privately or for parties of 10 or more, but this is a great last-minute option for medium sized-groups!

  2. MV Skipper - twice-daily leisure and fishing charter leaving out of Oak Bluffs harbor, this is a great option for those casually interested in fishing or smaller sized groups. It includes the price of equipment and can accommodate large-group reservations.

  3. Patriot Boat - this option has daily open boat fishing trips that charge per-person for bottom + sport fishing. They also have a customized private charter option for large groups.

  4. Black Dog Charters - the Alabama Schooner operates out of Vineyard Haven and offers day and sunset 3-hour cruises at per/person rates. Great for all ages, BYOB.

  5. Pirate Boat - designed for families, this boat offers a fun experience for kids three times a day, 90 minutes per tour. They can also accommodate private events/parties
