It's a perfect time of year to enjoy the foliage and try a new path
This is a great time of year for a hike because of the gorgeous weather, fewer ticks, and it’s not yet hunting season. Here are a few hikes that we’ve tried and loved, with a little info about each of them.
A quieter path for Islanders
Felix Neck
Address: 100 Felix Neck Drive, Edgartown
Trail Details: Total of 4 miles through woodlands, views of meadows, ponds and shorelines. 24 acres, Audubon Society property
Accessibility: No Dogs, 1 mile of UA trail available
Great Rock Bight
Address: 37 Brickyard Raod, Chilmark MA
Trail Distance: 28 acres, Grassy fields and a wooded path lead you to a bluff over a sandy cove. Owned by Land Bank. About 2 miles total
Accessibility: dogs are allowed certain times of day/year. limited parking. difficult terrain (steep steps)
Short Cove Preserve
Address: 85 Tiahs Cove Road West Tisbury
Trail Distance: 2-3 miles total, super flat, gives you scenic views of Tisbury Great Pond. Land Bank property
Accessibility: dog-friendly, easy terrain
Wilfred’s Pond Preserve in Vineyard Haven
Address: Stonegate Lane, Vineyard Haven
Trail Distance: 5 acres, this preserve offers incredible Land Bank property.
Accessibility: accessible to dogs, not stroller-friendly, limited parking, about 1 mile long
Cedar Tree Neck
Address: 210 Obed Daggett Rd, West Tisbury
Trail Distance: 400+ acres, most trails around 2 miles, grassy, forests, bluffs, Sheriff’s Meadow property
Accessibility: dog-friendly
Long Point
Address: 330 Long Point Road, West Tisbury
Trail Distance: 600+ acres for nature-lovers, two-mille trail, Trustees of the Reservation property
Accessibility: no dogs
