⚾ Martha's Vineyard Activity Spotlight: Sharks Baseball Game at The Shark Tank
An affordable, all-ages summer tradition for locals and visitors
We took the kids to a Martha’s Vineyard Sharks game this summer, and it was an easy, nostalgic, and genuinely fun night out! Between the snacks, open space to roam, and family-friendly crowd, it’s one of those activities I’d recommend to just about anyone visiting in June or July.
Here’s what to know if you’re planning your own visit to The Shark Tank:
🎖️ About the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks
The Sharks are part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) and bring in top college players from across the country. They’ve taken home league championships in 2013, 2018, and 2022, and led the league in attendance the last two seasons. The team has strong local ties, with players staying with Vineyard host families and a full summer schedule that includes clinics, youth camps, and other fan-friendly events.

🧺 The Game Day Experience
Game nights at The Shark Tank are casual, welcoming, and easy to navigate with kids. You can buy tickets in advance online or at the gate. Parking was easy and free. Right at the entrance is a beer garden (adults must stay inside that area while drinking), making it a great hangout spot if you're visiting without kids. Throughout the park, older kids were tossing baseballs, toddlers toddled along the fence, and families spread out across picnic tables, bleachers, and lawn seating.
Food options included classic ballpark fare like pizza, hot dogs, burgers, and popcorn at reasonable prices from a food truck. Mad Martha’s ice cream is also on site, and there’s a team merch tent with hats and shirts. We grabbed snacks, ran into a few neighbors, watched the national anthem and first pitch, and let the kids run free.
For my daughters, it was their very first baseball game (and first professional sports event), and it was far less intimidating than a big stadium like Fenway.
It had all the charm of a small-town summer night, I’m already looking forward to making this an annual tradition!
