🥐 Bakeries on Martha's Vineyard
Baked Goods Highlights by Town, with Pastry Chef Marnely Murray
I (Lis) have a major sweet tooth, and lucky for me Martha’s Vineyard is filled with impressive pastry chefs who have incredible talents. For today’s post, I invited island chef and creator Marnely Murray to help highlight some of the tastiest bakeries on MV.
We’ve organized the bakeries below by town, and ensured each bakery makes their baked goods in-house. This list includes bakeries that are open for walk-in purchasing - not restaurants that have desserts (though I will happily expand on that some other time!). Also to note - this isn’t a list of coffee shops that happen to have baked goods, but a list of bakeries that might have coffee. IMO, there’s a difference!

Edgartown
🍞Morning Glory Farm - Known for their daily specials, MG offers a huge range of breads - a standout is the Zucchini Bread / Info ❄️
Marnely’s Pick: The Monkey Bars - the love child of banana bread with coconut shreds and chocolate chips, truly delicious!
🥐Behind the Bookstore - A charming cafe located behind Edgartown Books, they offer freshly baked pastries, including my favorite Cinnamon Roll / Info 👨🏽💻
Marnely’s Pick: If you ever see they have Kougin Aman (a laminated, custardy baked good), make sure to grab one - you’ll think you’re in Paris with every bite!
Espresso Love - This coffee shop on Church Street is a year-round best bet with a wide variety. / Info ❄️ 👨🏽💻
Rosewater Market & Takeaway - Known for its delicious, on-the-go treats, this market in Edgartown offers gluten-free options, though I personally look forward to their maple bacon scones all year. / Info 👨🏽💻
Black Sheep Mercantile - A gourmet take-away who offers awesome catered options if you’re ordering breakfast for a large group / Info
Iggy’s Bread - open seasonally, Iggy’s bakes delicious breads in Cambridge and sells them out of Edgartown (and soon from a new Menemsha location) / Info
🍩 Edgartown Meat + Fish Market - This on-the-go market makes their own bagels and donuts! They also boast the only Starbucks coffee on MV / Info ❄️
Marnely’s Pick: This isn’t baked in house, but EMFM sells Bisousweet Cookies - All Natural Linzer Hearts and they are hands down so perfect!
Vineyard Haven
Pie Chicks - Recognized for their seasonal variety of homemade pies, Pie Chicks' focus on traditional baking methods means a buttery crust and even Chicken Pot Pies in the Fall / Info
Little House Cafe - This bakery in Edgartown offers a variety of baked goods and a full-service restaurant as well. / Info ❄️
Marnely’s Pick: Little House Cafe does classic well, and their brownies are a delicious treat! Looking for a cookie? Their Double Chocolate Cookies are some of my favorites on island!
Sweet Bites - A specialty bakery with Brazilian coxinhas and Brigadeiros located in the heart of Vineyard Haven. They offer a range of baked goods and are known for their holiday catering. / Info ❄️
Marnely’s Pick: Savory, fried goods prevail here - the chicken and cream cheese coxinhas are a full meal at times. Perfectly fried and seasoned, this Brazilian treat is my go-to when in VH and needing a snack.
Delicious MV - This bakery on Main Street inside Bobby B’s offers a variety of products and is a solid bet for special orders. They accept online orders, check their website. / Info ❄️
Mocha Mott's - A year-round coffee shop offering rotating scones, muffins and breakfast sandwiches / Info ❄️
🍰Black Dog Bakery Café - Part of The Black Dog brand, this cafe serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. It's known as a go-to spot for special order cakes. / Info ❄️ 👨🏽💻
Marnely’s Pick: The Blackout Cake slices - if you’re ever having a bad day, this slice of cake will fix everything. I promise.
Scottish Bakehouse - Located in Vineyard Haven, this small bakery specializes in vegan and gluten-free food. They have great Portuguese bread, granola and seasonal pastry options / Info ❄️
Waterside Market - This market offers a variety of quick bites and is known for its sandwiches, though their cookies top our list. / Info ❄️ 👨🏽💻
🥯The Model Deli - One of the few homemade bagel options, they offer bagel sandwiches with latkes. Their baked option rotates daily / Info
Local Tip - Many Island coffee shops get their Baked Goods shipped in daily from Cape Cod Bagel and Maison Villatte in Falmouth. While delicious, it’s helpful to know!
Oak Bluffs
Aalia's Coffee - This coffee shop in Oak Bluffs is known for its specialty coffee drinks, but their baked goods showcase the owners' Italian and Lebanese heritage / Info 👨🏽💻
🍪Mo’s Lunch - Offering the biggest cookies you can find, this rotating selection offers huge portions of classics with a modern twist. Keep an eye out for Donuts on Saturday mornings too! / Info ❄️
Marnely’s Pick: Everything Korilee makes is heaven sent, but specifically her chocolate chip cookies.
Back Door Donuts - Famous for its donuts, Back Door is open late-night with long lines. They are well known for their Apple Fritters that are gigantic and filling / Info
Up-Island
Orange Peel Bakery - Situated on State Rd, Aquinnah, this bakery offers a selection of baked goods and also hosts pizza nights. Their hours are unpredictable so be sure to check before heading over / Info
🥖The Grey Barn and Farm - This certified organic farm features a creamery and bakery. They offer a variety of artisanal products including freshly baked sourdough boules and rotating croissants. / Info ❄️

7aFoods - A perfectly located spot to grab a treat on your way up island, 7AFoods is family-owned and their menu of baked goods varies but consistently has bar treats, muffins, cakes and cookies, freshly baked daily. / Info ❄️
