💬 June's Ask Me Anything Roundup
What's new in Edg, Chappy Ferry, Non-Seafood, Woods Hole eats, takeout for large groups, and kid spots in Edg + Art Cliff
We love getting your frequent question submissions on Instagram and through our Google Form - so each month we will roundup some unique questions and answer them here. Here are some rapid-fire answers short enough not to need a whole post, but definitely relevant to many!
Q: Anything new in Edgartown this summer?
A: Besides my daughter?! 😉
New Spots: Respoke Abode (Main St.) repurposes designer scarves and Franklin Hotel just opened. No new food though!
Expansions/Relocations: Kin moved spots, Rainy Day opened a second location, Nell moved locations, MV Botiga by MV Salads will open.
Q: How to Get to Chappy? Cash-only ferry? Worth it?
A: Not cash only! There is a kiosk where you can use a card (whether it’s car, bike or passenger). The Chappy Ferry runs from downtown Edgartown to Chappy from 6:30a-12a and is definitely worth the trip if you’re on island for a long time and looking for something quieter. My biggest suggestion here is to bring a BIKE. It’s not very walkable on Chappy, and to bring a car in-season would be a long wait/expensive for a short trip.
Q: Best places to eat for non-seafood eaters?
A: Here are our favorite dishes on island that are not seafood: 19 Prime for the steak, Alchemy for the chicken, Sweet Life for the pasta, Coop De Ville for the wings, Red Cat for the fried chicken, Little House or Covington for the vegetarian, TigerHawk for to-go breakfast sandwiches, Waterside for the lunch sandwiches, Life at Humphreys for the slice salad.
Q: What can you do while waiting for our ferry? Ex places to eat in Woods Hole?
A: Do: Walk around woods hole towards the aquarium (which, sadly, I believe is closed temporarily) there are shops to browse there too!
Eat: We love Pie in the Sky (popover breakfast sandwiches are incredible, there are new owners but it’s still great!). My mom loves Quicks Taqueria (for something easy this has to-go options, but if you have more time you can go to Landfall (casual) or Water Street Kitchen (upscale).
Q: Best places to get takeout for a large group? Can be partially prepared foods to cook at home too
A: Our MVacay picks: Edgartown Pizza for the pizza, Edgartown Meat + Fish for pre-made grilling supplies, The Fish House for Lobster bakes, Waterside Market for lunch spreads
Reader’s picks: Square Rigger takeout window, Net Result takeout window, S+S Kitchenette kits, Mo’s Lunch sandwich spread, Black Sheep Prepared foods
Q: Best kid spot in Edgartown?
A: Hands down: Katama Kitchen! They have options - full service indoor/outdoor dining, plus to-go with picnic benches. All have a view of the planes coming and going, large open seating formats and a great kids menu. Casual atmosphere.
Q: What’s going on with Art Cliff? Will they open this season?
A: They will remain closed for this season! They are undergoing renovations to expand the dining area, office space and kitchen. More to come hopefully this winter!
